The committee's inaugural drinking session of 2011 went well last night, with this website (replacing the old one after ongoing technical problems) being one of the many points on the pre-season to-do list.
2011 Looks like a lively year on many fronts. We're two years old now, and have our own bank account and - thanks to the EGM at the tail of the growing season in 2011 - a revised and much sharper constitution. All of these things will mean that we will finally be eligable for funding from the many small grant-giving organisations active both locally and across the UK.
The bees, pretty much the only ones active at our Church Hill site through the first half of our appalling winter, had a spectacular first few months and we are looking forward to a bumper crop - and perhaps a new colony - later this year. Anyone interested in learning about beekeeping please note - we are looking in to beekeeping taster days and training events in conjunction with the experts, so keep a beedy eye on the website.
In other winter news, sadly the group's Rotovator, donated by me via the Reigate Freecycle group, was not servicable. Merstham's Mower Menders (Nutfield Road) trying but failing to get any life out of the old beast despite a long week of spare time tinkering.
We've already had two new memberships, so they'll be given the plots vacated thanks to previous members' departures. But, we still have plenty of space and with Valentine's Day fast approaching, perhaps the romantic gift of Growing Redhill membership is the perfect way to kick off your loved one's growing year?
There will, no doubt, be many updates over the coming weeks as the committee fleshes out the events diary for the year, and begins the great gardening gallop towards good growth of Growing Redhill!
So Happy New Year from the Committee and we hope to see or hear from you soon.
